The Rhode Island Film Festival 2008 recently screened  The Graduates movie, and awarded director Ryan Gielen with the Directorial Discovery award.  Sonia Montez is featured in the Soundtrack at the film’s emotional climax, singing “Learning to Sing”, from her digital EP Chelsea Mornings.

Friends,I am writing to let you know that I have registered for AIDS Walk New York and am very excited about the event. This is a very important issue to me so I have set an ambitious fundraising goal. I want to do as much as I can to make a difference in the lives of men, women, and children affected by HIV and AIDS. Even though there has been a lot of publicity about drug treatments which are prolonging some people’s lives, they don’t work for everyone and there is still no cure in sight. Join us at the Verrazano Narrows Botanical Gardens for an outdoor concert with Sonia Montez and her band including Mark Kelley on bass (Meshell Ndegeocello, Will Calhoun), Mireya Ines, Violin/Harmony (Mireya y Movimiento Band) and Gabe Cummins on electric guitar (Dr. John, Aaron Neville).
