New Song from Lola’s upcoming album project

without comments

A new track is up at www.lolajohnson.com . It’s called, “Til Another Day”. The track is a rough cut, but Lola wanted to put up this song before “the voting process and all the madness. It’s the last track on my new EP, ‘A Scene Unseen’.”

Lola continues, “I only hope that this song is taken as a realistic representation of society. It’s for the young and old, those struggling to find an identity amongst millions. We’re being put in a box, without even knowing “Why?” and “What box?”. During this election and ones before, we’re always settling, choosing the better over the worst. Our settled upon choice forces Us to put trust in people who divide Us more than bring Us together.

“I started this album with an intention to play with musicians whose sound I personally enjoy, to collaborate with a Scene Unseen, but also to acknowledge the elements of society other than the hype and reruns that keep all of us in our place like a neat little package. It’s hard as hell just to be human by yourself, but with another and another and another…it’s a tailspin, so watch your Ass.

Next live performance: Wednesday November 5, 2008 at 7:30pm, R Bar 218 Bowery, NYC

‘Til Another Day - written by Lola Johnson

Just call it my town
with the filthy smell in the air
People pissin’ their thoughts around
just to breathe it in and you can help but care

Absorbed in my skin
I got a way to stay sane
I just suck my smoke right back in
’til another day

Just call it my state
where the north end is the new south
And you stick out of place
when you’re too open in the country and closed in the city

With my heart on my sleeve
I got a way to relate
by taking a step out, while looking in
until another day

Just call it my country
You’re either colored in blue or red
and spinning in reruns
of who’s far behind or just too far ahead
Just call it my country
You’re either colored in black, yellow, brown, red and white
and spinning in reruns
of who’s to the far left or to the far right

Stuck in my mind
are opinions heard or read
Given no choice but to define
where I stand
on this land
’til the day that I’m dead
